    backup problem?

i had the same errors as found in the post referenced below and was able to resolve them by following the excellent advice given. however, something else has occurred. after i was able to create a system image successfully on an external esata/usb drive (or so it was indicated), the program let me create a recovery disc. this seemed to work and that disc is full. the problem is that when i look at the external disc what i find is a folder named WindowsImageBackup. in that folder is a folder named BuolLaptop-PC and that folder has the following folders in it:

Backup 2010-01-04172324 the folder is empty
    Catalog folder is empty
    SPP MetadataCache folder is empty
    MediaId a 16 byte file

so there doesn't seem to be a backup. any thoughts? thanks.

The files are hidden system files. You would have to "un-hide" them to make them show up. Don't worry, they are there if you need them.

If you want to un-hide system files, you must go into "folder options" and un-check the box. I would not suggest you do it.

Glad to hear that cleared it up. Don't be bashful about hitting the scales (upper right of post) that helped you find what you needed.

thanks, nate42nd, i didn't know about the feedback scales (newbie).

unfortunately, i spoke too soon. i found that there weren't any hidden files on the external drive. also, the problem fully returned as well, even w/ rechecking/redoing what worked before.

i have also had separately only partial luck with ghost 15 issues, so i just obtained the free macrium reflect imaging program discussed in this thread https://www.sevenforums.com/performan...-7-backup.html

and it worked fine. so i think i'll use that for imaging and the LaCie backup software on my external drive for file/data backup. life's a little too short to try to resolve all these issues if there are other options, much as it's challenging to try to do so. but i'm sure i'll have other issues to track down here soon. thanks again.
