Windows 7: asks to make a recovery disc on start up

when i start my advent laptop up it comes up with a thing on my screen to make a recovery disc.how do i stop this i guess its in the program somewhere?thx

Have you made your recovery discs yet? This usually stops the messages
The only reason I wouldn't make a recovery disc with a new laptop is if the manufacturer supplied an operating system disc, which is becoming much less common.

I've never seen this popup. Maybe it is something added by Advent.

As Orpheous says, if you don't have an OS disc, it is advisable to create the recovery disc/s. If something goes wonky, you may need the disc to boot into the repair console.

My new HP laptop is doing this too. I made the recovery DVDs the 1st or second day. Now I am getting reminders to make them again. It looks like in may case, I can make them twice. HP has two separate programs that let mr make recovery DVDs. The more the better.....I will make 2 sets.

Hi there.
Some of these "Shop bought" computers don't come with an install OS so you should do this just ONCE -- that's if you ever need to return the system to the "Shop State" which usually contains a load of bload and crapware on it.

Once you've burned the DVD save it -- now get GPARTED, WIPE the disk and do a brand new CLEAN OS install of Windows 7.

I'd split the disk into a smallish one for the OS -- around 25 GB max and the rest for data, music etc etc.

i have made a disc but with the windows 7 program because the advent 1 wouldnt let me it was saying it uses multiple drives!

Type msconfig in the start menu search box and hit enter. On the startup tab, see if there is anything there that might be the problem. If so uncheck it and restart to see if the prob is gone.
