Windows 7 Ultimate Backup So i have my backups scheduled to run every week. They do run, however, the problem I am having is that after 2 or 3 runs of the backup, my 500gb external drive is full. My system drive is a 250gb drive with about 180gbs used. My backups are only set to backup user folders and it does not create drive images. I dont change a lot of things in between backups, so I am trying to figure out why it seems like it does full backups each time. I thought the backups were block level incremental? Any help would be greatly appreciated! | My System Specs |

Are you using the built in backup and restore? I seem to remember some one sayinf even if you selected user folders that it still backs up the entiere drive. What is the size of the backup? about the same size as the OS partition?

apparently, after skimming through this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...2-41edaed1e2f9, this is a common issue and MS is working on it...
if anyone has suggestions as to other backup software, id be willing to give it a try. i was thinking about using a online backup service like mozy or carbonite, but i have been reading too many horror stories about both. | My System Specs | | |

What type of backup do you want? For me, I keep everything on a server. And my server has 2 drives, which I sync together every few hours using robocopy at the command line in a batch file.
Then every week or so, I plug in an external drive and run robocopy and sync the data on my hard drive with my external drive. In addition, I have another external drive that I sync up as well and keep off site in case of robbery or theft.
For my OS on my workstation, I like to run Acronis True Image and just image my C drive onto my D drive right after install and then every now and again so that I can get back to where I was pretty easily. Mind you this is mostly just applications and patches...as all of my data is stored on my external USB drives. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD
