    Backup Software


    I'am looking for something that after the 1st backup if I change a text or doc file or change something in a file or subfile or add something new(music pictures ect.) it will backup just the stuff that changed or is new.
    Free would be great

    Its called an incremental backup and most good backup apps (like Norton ghost, acronis) will do it

    Macrium Reflect does the differential backups and is a freebie... get it -=> here

    If you want imaging the above are fine, but for 'normal' backups look at SyncbackSE (free or paid versions) which is brilliant.

    I think only the Macrium Pro version does incrementals - see comparison here. The free version does not - it always does full images. I like full images - if you have a break of the chain of the incrementals, you lose the whole thing. I understand that "differentials" like in Paragon are different. But I have not yet experimented with that.

    I use robocopy at the command line for this. It's built right into the operating system

    robocopy C:\source E:\destination /MIR

    The /MIR mirrors the source to the destination. It only does stuff that has changed.
