Windows 7 Won't Restore to previous point

I have a new Sony z. After completing installation and while updating files, I noticed a yellow warning notice associated with my N6200 wireless. This warning popped up every tme I tried to connect wirelessly even though a connection was made. I reviewed the event viewer and decided to restore to an earlier point. The computer would not restore and indicated it was probably due to an anti-virus program. It also reported a 0x800070005 error. I turned off the anti-virus program (Noton) but it still would not restore. I tried to restore in safemode and it worked. Eventually I reformatted and reinstalled the system. Both problem reoccured. The interesting thing is that I have a friend with a new Lenovo W510. He has the exact same problem when it comes to restore. He does not have the warning notice. My computer uses an I5-540 while the Lenovo uses an i9-920 (2.0). I have an N6200 wireless he has an N6300. We both use Norton trial. Both systems have discrete graphics and can be toggled. Any idea(s) what the problem is and how it can be resolved. The Sony service department seems lost. It looks to me like an endemic problem associated with W7 and Intel?

I disabled Norton by clicking off all functions. I did not see a way to disable it other than clicking off each function or by un-installing. I've been thinking that the problem is Norton but did not want to un-install - yet. I'll try that if nothing else works. Thanks

I tried to use services.msc to disable Norton but the box controlling that function was grayed out. Norton's online instructions are out-of-date and no longer pertain to the version I have. Their online instructions say there is an on/off button. I called Norton to have them resolve the issue but they couldn't figure out what to do themselves. They were stumped by the grayed out selection which was set to Auto. Trust Norton? So...I will probably un-install Norton all together and see what happens. Other recommendations are still invited. Thanks for your help.

Please try the following. It works for me.
Please go to computer setting in Norton window and then to miscellaneous setting and disable Norton tamper protection.Might help.Thanks.

Thanks to all those who responded to my posting. The postings were very helpful. In the end I unloaded Norton's and was able to restore correctly. It would appear that Norton's has caused a number of issues associated with the operation of this computer that are totally unacceptable. At least if you're having this problem with your new (or old) windows 7 computer this will point you in the right direction. Thanks.
