My last HP laptop had Vista Home with Windows Mail email program. The hard drive crashed and nothing could be retrieved (I tried first, then took it to geek squad). Got a new (ASUS) 64bit laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows Live Mail. I added Norton360 to the new laptop to try to restore the only backup I could still access from the old laptop(Norton backup files). When I restored the files, new folders were created in unexpected places and (doc's etc.) have been difficult to find and have had to be relocated to their respective programs in order to access them, but so far still can't find any Vista/Windows Mail files at all. MAYBE I NEED INSTRUCTION TO RESTORE NORTON FILES IN A BETTER WAY? I had a few email copies I really need, not to mention my contacts list. Have read tutorials and related forum threads on this site, followed the advice to make sure I was seeing hidden files and checked all of the file paths suggested. Does Norton or Windows Mail keep email and contacts in a single file or is that the new emails on Windows Live Mail? Anyway I found two single files that looked likely to be emails and contacts? I tried to import them into Windows Live Mail, but the storage file that appeared was empty. MAYBE I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR? Search doesn't seem to find anything either but maybe I'm not searching for the correct file names? MAYBE THE INFO JUST NO LONGER EXISTS? My lack of skill is making this very frustrating. Any help will be appreciated!
