Win 7 system restore problems

I first noticed a problem in Win 7 with settings in Quicken, I would set the backup count from the default of 3 to 15. A day or 2 later when I close Quicken it wants to backup again, When I check the preferences the count is reset to 3 again.
Also with login problems via a browser (logging into my bank or into my Verizon acct) they are always asking me additional questions as if I have not used this computer before to log into these accts, as if the cookies are not being saved.

I found that if I turn OFF system restore these problems go away, as soon as I turn on system restore they start again.

Anyone have an answer as to why this is???

Download and use this I bet it solves the site problem.

You may, also want to clear your cache, and do a disk cleanup.

For the other problem. Try turning off your A/V

If that does not work try a clean boot.

Lets see if it is SR. Try the above, if they do not work, we can discuss SR. The above reasons are the most common.

Hello ebohatch,

just a few points.

1) If you have been using CCleaner, make sure you uncheck "Index.dat" in IE Cleaner section.

2) IE8 has an option for InPrivate Browsing. If you are browsing in this mode no cookies or history is saved. In this mode is there will be a blue bar at the beginning of the address bar that says “InPrivate”. This is activated by going to the “Safety” button on the Menu Bar and selecting InPrivate Browsing. When you close and re-launch IE8 you should be returned to normal browsing.

3) If InPrivate Browsing is not on, then the security settings in IE8 have been set to NOT allow cookies or you could be running third party internet security software that is blocking cookies. In IE8 go to the “Tools” button on the Menu Bar and click on Internet Options. Click on the Security tab and click on the icon for Internet. The slide adjuster just below Security Level for this zone by default is set to Medium-High. This setting does allow cookies so try setting to this level. Now click on the Privacy tab. The slide adjuster below Select a Setting for the Internet Zone is set to Medium by default. This setting will allow the type of cookies that you are referring to so if it is not set to Medium set it there. Click Apply and click OK.

4) IE8 has a Trusted sites feature. Add your website to Trusted sites. In case your AV also has a Trusted sites app, add your website.
