    restoring from system image file

hi guys, i have problem here, need help quick

I just formatted my drive (c:\) due to the attack of virus, now, since i had made a system image on drive d:\, i want to restore all the system files on drive c:\ but when i tried to restore it through windows repair , setup gave a warning that i can't restore the files since the drive ( where the system backup is located) was excluded and it won't do a restoration, what should I do?

Notice that the drive c: and d: are in the same physical drive.

you should do system images in external media or hard drives to avoid corruption, remember that if the HD goes bad, all goes bad. are you using the "use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer"?

If you have an infection on the HD, you should wipe by zeroing the entire HD, then clean reinstall or apply an image you have stored externally.

You can do this deep cleaning using the installer or a 3rd party bootable manager like free Partition Wizard CD.

I did not think Win 7 would allow you to create an image on the same hard drive as the backup, but maybe I was wrong.

Do you have another hard drive, or external drive or a network location you could move the backup to? Assuming the backup is good, that might allow for a restore.

Get a new hard drive and restore the image on that. Make sure the new one is primary in the bios. You will need a drive large enough to hold the entire amount of partitioned space on the original drive. If you just move the folder to the new drive, it will only have to be large enough to hold the folder.
