The System Restore shortcut keeps disappearing
I am having what can only be called a bizarre problem. Whenever I turn off my computer and then turn it back on, the shortcut to System Restore disappears from my System Tools folder. I dragged a copy of the shortcuts to the folder of nine shortcuts onto the desktop and it disappears from there as well.
I know what and where the actual executable file is and should I need to use it I can always access that file, but I would really like to have this process stopped. This does not affect any of the other eight shortcuts in System Tools.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM) that was assembled by a local firm that is part of a small chain (MicroCenter). The parts were chosen by a friend of mine who lives in a different country and I became an intermediary between him and the salesman.
I have two 500 GB WD hard drives and a Gigabyte motherboard. There's power to spare:
CPU Intel Core i5 750
Motherboard Gigabyte P55A-UD3
Ram Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 Get 6GB of these * (1600)
Hard Drive Western Digital 500GB (2)
Video Card Zotac GeForce 9600 GT
Optical Drives Pioneer 22x DVD Writer OEM (2)
Power Supply Thermaltake TR2 500W
Case Cooler Master Elite 332
Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM
Cooling Fan Thermaltake SpinQ
They were supposed to format everything but they only formatted the C: drive. When the D: wasn't listed I formatted that and downloaded the complete set of Gigabyte utilities.
I don't tend to lean on System Restore and I do back up frequently, but I find this both puzzling and irritating.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gerry
