In XP you go to start, accessories, system tools, system restore, and system restore settings. There you will find the slider. I'll see if that works in W 7.
If you follow the path I posted above you will get there. I am only not sure of the last button which may be "advanced" or "settings". But I am sure you'll see. It's time I install Win7 on this box so that I can check better - LOL.

I tried restoring the computer to factory settings but after restoring and backing up the computer restarted and it wont go further than the startup page ..there's this error in 'setting up the services to install' windows plz plz plz helppppppppppp it says to restart to continue installing...

I would like to "lock down" the system restore settings after I set it up on my main hd. For some reason it gets changed by either my setup of "daily disk cleaner" or Ccleaner or some other program.

I am not able to use system restore, I get the msg " system protection is turned off..."
But under system properties, it shows the protection is on.
whats going on?
