Win 7 Enterprise Network Backup to Mac OSX
Here's my situation:
I have a PC running Windows 7 Enterprise (64bit). I have a Mac running OSX with an external HDD formatted for Mac Extended (Journaled).
I have music and I want to prevent a significant digital copy loss. It has happened in the past, and I want to start backing it up on a weekly or monthly basis.
I was trying to back the music up by plugging it directly into my Windows PC (using MacDrive 8), but the transfers kept failing. So, I resorted to backing up through the network to the Mac with the external connected to it, and it is going smoothly (but painfully slower than via Firewire). Now that I have all the music backed up, I want to schedule a program to back it up automatically through the network to the external HDD connected to the Mac.
I tried to do it using Windows Backup. Typed in the address to the "Save on a network..." -- I also browsed and selected a folder that way.
\\Dereks-mac\derek's\Music Backup\
and I type in my credentials and hit OK. I get this error:
The specified network location cannot be used
Verify the path points to a correct network location and that the supplied credentials can be used for write access to the folder.
I click "More details" and it tells me:
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (0x8007052E)
I have the right login and password. Retyped it many times, still to no avail. I should note that I am fully able to transfer files to this same computer with this same external HDD and identical credentials. Do I have the wrong syntax or something for the network path? I mean I tried by browsing for the folder as well. Is it not possible through Windows Backup?
Are there any other programs that might be able to save my music files over a network from a Win 7 PC to an Apple Mac OSX?
