Just one good graphics card, a solid 800~watt fully modular PSU and the chip. We will see.
That's not a bad budget, I am building a new rig tomorrow for my partners younger brother, he has a budget of 700/836 euro but that had to include absolutely everything for a new build including a monitor.

After a bit of messing around I came up with a decent enough list and he ordered them.

It had an i5 4670K, Z87 Mobo, 660ti and Corsair CX 600 psu. You can go a lot further on your budget.

I don't know how prices are where you live, but converting it, 1000 Euros here would get you something along the lines of this (I would normally suggest Ivybridge but it appears nearly all the good motherboards are gone now)

CPU - i5 4670K
Mobo - Z87 Sabertooth
GPU - GTX 780
PSU - Corsair RM 850 fully modular.

That comes in at 1059 Euros but would make for a killer rig for sure.
Thank you very much Paul for your detailed answer. I do have one question. I noticed that some of the intel chips come bundled with graphics and some without. Will this hurt overclocking in anyway, as I would prefer just a CPU not an APU if you know what I mean.

They do not lower your performance. With an IGPU, you always have a backup if your gpu fails.

I have my old XFX GeForce GTS 250 as backup, its PCIE 2.0 so it would work on any modern mobo.

To be honest most of the high end new CPU's have built in graphics, I would say nearly everyone in the OC leaderboards has a chip with built in graphics but most of us don't use them and just disable them. No it does not hurt performance at all.

Ok that answers my question. Thanks Paul

PS I also learned that there has to be a K in the chips name = unlocked. Guess you guys are slowly morphing me into a intel guy...but don't tell the AMD guys

Major G it's a fair score for that age of a card overclocked or not you will most likely see a little more then that by maybe 100pts if any

You are about 3 Generations behind of the GTX model current model 7 series so maybe you should look for the 5 or 6 series they have come down a little in pricing

Obviously it's not the highest of scores MajorG, but as long as the graphics card plays the games you want then that's all that matters. Don't worry too much about benchmark scores. We are just a bunch of benchmark junkies lol.

I have added you to the leaderboard.

Yeah I know.. Not looking to get the highest score, but I ask if my score is right for my specs.
I run BF3 on MED-HIGH 1920X1080 pretty fine, but still doesn't seem smooth enough..

Thanks anyway Paul.

Major G it's probably due to the fact you have a 1gb card

1gb cards get maxed out fast playing battlefield with decent settings take a look at how much vram is being used

If you don't want to invest in any newer card consider sli that would improve your game play 10 fold
