Good job of getting a benchmarking section in here Paul

Edit: Are you aware there is a new version of 3DMark 11, now simply called 3DMark?

    - Video on Steam: 3DMark on Steam
    - Download basic version: Download 3DMark and PCMark - Futuremark

Thank you, there were a total of 11 benchmarks dotted around before, it was often tricky to locate them, I figured it would be a good idea to get them all in one place.

I do have plans to get a leaderboard up and running for every single benchmark, not necessarily for the competition (although that is always fun) but just so everyone knows what they got and has an easy reference point to find it.

What about the SSD benchmarks like Atto or AS SSD. Do those not belong into this list.

I edited my post to add info on the new 3DMark benching tool. Check it out.

That is a very good point and not something I had considered. Although they are normally part of the "show us your SSD performance" thread I certainly think one would be good in here. Personally I think the AS SSD is easier for people to read and it gives a score so I will quite happily add that unless you want to start the thread yourself Wolfgang?

No, I don't want to start a thread. If you could add them here, that would suffice. I only use Atto for SSDs and HD Tune for HDDs and sticks.

Thanks Drew, I have been running the new 3D Mark test myself since it came out, it is very good but the free version is a total pain in the ass as you have to watch a massive amount of demo before each test. Also I believe the first test is aimed at Mobile/cell phones, the 2nd test is aimed at notebooks and low powered devices, the main and proper PC test is the last one...Firestrike which is very cool. I know a lot of people are put off running it due to the fact you have to go through all the tests and demos before you actually get to the proper firestrike test in the free version.
I purchased the new 3D Mark myself recently which allows you to skip all demos and just run each test individually which is great.
I actually mentioned the fact to John earlier that I was going to start a new thread soon for Firestrike so I certainly will. How popular it will be is another thing, as I mentioned before if you want to try and better your score it takes quite some time of demos and other benchmarks before you get what you actually want.

I was just reading about PCMark 8 and noticed it also has a benchmark tool for measuring an SSD's performance as well. Don't know what the basic un-paid version gives you though, and $49 bucks for the full version is a bit much, even for my tastes.

Anyway adding download links for SSD drive performance software sound like a good idea to me.

Thanks Paul, that's great info. I'm actually downloading the demo now. Based on your comments, I'll just go ahead and purchase the full version.

    Thanks
