Windows 7 hides files from Outlook Hope someone can help. I am running Windows 7 64 bit Home edition and Outlook 2003. Just started using Outlook and I am trying to figure out how I can find my pictures to attach to an email. When I click on Attach in Outlook the box that opens does not show the Libraries and I can't find my Picture files. I dont have this problem using web mail or Eudora just in Outlook.
I've tried opening the Picture folder in My Computer and right clicking to send email but it then wants me to log into Windows Live which I don't use.
I do not want to insert pictures in my email just attach - but how do I find them
Thanks

You might be better off posting a screenshot of your Outlook's File Open box. By default, it will point to the Libraries, so you may have to manually find the folder in which your pictures are stored.
As for the Send to email....that problem is due to the fact you don't have Outlook 2003 set as your default mail app. It should prompt you with this whenever you open Outlook. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

Well you are using Outlook 2003...the reason is in the name.
Windows 7 came out in 2009/2010.
Outlook 2003 has no "concept" of Libraries. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware Aurora ALX R4 OS Windows 7 x64 (SP1) CPU Intel Core i7-3930K (3.2GHz, Turbo 4GHz) Motherboard Alienware Aurora-R4 x79 Memory 4x Samsung 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (16GB 1600MHz) Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce GTX 690 (Stock) Sound Card RealTek Integrated Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U3011 Screen Resolution 2560x1600 Other Info Dell Inspiron Mini 10v (Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz; 1GB; Windows 7 Ultimate) |

I would be surprised if it couldn't use the Libraries, but it is some old software. You're missing out on the benefits of the ribbon! Yes, I'm being serious...I love the UI change. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

I don't have Outlook 2003 on my computer but I have Office 2003 which I assume is similar. In Word, for instance, I cannot locate files in the Libraries either. Libraries are actually just a mechanism that can point to several locations so all you need to do is to navigate to the actual location. For "My Pictures", when the File Open dialogue box comes up, navigate to C:\users\[user]\My Pictures. Once there you should be able to select a picture to attach. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built, Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop OS Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Win 7 Pro (32-bit) CPU 3.4Ghz 3770K i7, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Motherboard Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Dell Memory 8G, 3G Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770, Mobile Intel 965 Sound Card High Definition Audio (Built-in to mobo) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2409W 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard IBM Model M - used continuously since 1986 Mouse Microsoft PSU Antec Case Antec 100 Cooling CM 212+ Hard Drives 128G SSD OS; 1.5T & 2T Data on Desktop, 320G for laptop Internet Speed 1.5M down 1.2M up :-( Other Info Also have an Acer Aspire netbook, a home-built AMD Dual core (Minecraft server) and home-built Pent 4 all running Win 7. Also have various machines running XP, Win Server 2K, Win Server 2003, Linux and DOS. I think I have a problem... |
