Can't print from IE8 or Windows Live Mail

My Dell Studio 1555 PC runs Windows 7 Home Premium. I used System Restore quite a lot recently to get rid of a problem I had, and now I can't print from Internet Explorer 8 or from Windows Live Mail. I have used the printing troubleshooter, but it did nothing for me.

I can print from MS Word and from Firefox though, so is there any point in reinstalling the print driver, or should I try something else? There must be a way of connecting the printer to specific programs...................?

I have reset IE8, but it has made no difference.

    Would be grateful for guidance!

Have you also made sure your printer is set to default?

Have a look at Capt. Jack's IE Restorator tool. Try the re register functions, see if this doesn't help.

Are you getting any errors when trying to print from either?

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. Steve, I think the printer is the default because it has a green tick by it. I downloaded the IE Restorator took and clicked on the 'Re-register 64-bit IE8 in 64-bit W7' button. I didn't get told to re-start the PC and it didn't make any difference to IE. Should I try any of the other buttons? When I click on 'Print' or 'Print Preview' in IE8 nothing happens at all - I don't get any errors, just nothing!

If IE can be got to work will Windows Live work as well or is it a separate issue? Maybe I should re-install the driver anyway, I think it can reinstall over the existing driver - and can't do any harm?

Try deleting all printers/ unplug your printer/reboot/ then plug in printer and let windows 7 find it for you.
If that doesn't work then go to manufactures site and download latest driver/ download it/ reboot and see if that works.
Post back so we can get you up and printing.

Canon iP6700D is my only printer hardware, so I clicked 'Remove Device' (the other 'printers' are fax, Family Historian PDF and MS XPS). I rebooted and plugged in the printer and the driver installed but I still couldn't print from Windows Live Mail or IE 8. So I removed device again and dowloaded and installed the latest driver from Canon, with the same result. The printer works OK with other programs.

I am having a similar issue. I can print from Firefox and Word 2010 but not from Windows Live Mail.
