    IE 8 Uninstalled, next step?

    New computer, Toshiba Satellite L500
    /OS=Win7 Pro
    Installed at 32 bit
    Symptom:
IE 8 did not have 'Open in New Tab' or

Tried everything over a few days...reset, IEFix etc...
    nothing worked.

So uninstalled from Control Panel/ ...

    Q. What is the best way to re-install?
Can it be done within Win 7? or
Must it be d/loaded from MS site?

Control Panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows Features on or off; there is a check box for IE8.

    Thank you Ron

Notice the restored IE 8 has retained the setting I made before
    un-install.
Also this uninstall then reinstall has not fixed the problem.

    The symptom is:

In IE 8 - a R.click/ Open in New Tab and
    a R.click/Open in New Window

    do not work.
The New Tab does open a Tab but it doesn't move ... nothing
on bottom bar ...no progress bar or url
New Window cmd does nothing at all.

    Steps taken so far:
    Reset
IEFix from Internet Explorer FAQ - Repair IE8 (IE7)
SF IE Restorator from SF IE Restorator Free Download and Reviews - Fileforum
    Uninstall - reinstall
sfc /scannow comes up with all clear.

I don't know what else I can try.
Tabs work fine in FFox (which I had to d/load and use)
System uses Zone Alarm Security Suite and I am loathe
to turn this off while online.

Mine works fine but I only have IE installed. Perhaps you could try making IE your default browser.

If you go to Start and in the Search box start typing in Internet Explorer and you will soon see Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) - click on that and see if you have the right-context menu items there.

This is problem is typically caused by conflicts with added toolbars - the Yahoo toolbar seems to be a common culprit.

Hi Digerati ... no didn't have any effect.
No don't have Yahoo ... and have tested without add-ons.

Gilly I'll follow up yr lead : - first method failed so trying 2nd ... hmm
looks like a whole rebuild...the first one worked but latter ones didn't.
But it's the best lead ive' had on the problem so thanks.
