I checked my chrome and with just one tab open in chrome I see 3 entries in the Task Manager. If I open a second tab, I see one additonal task manager entry.
wow..I was wondering if i am infected with a virus but kaspersky scanned nothing. =x
If you don't have it, download the free malwarebytes, malware/spyware scanner and run that.
Chrome opens every add-in and extension in it's own process. If you have many loaded, you'll have many processes - In chrome, right-click the top bar where there are no tabs and select "Task Manager". This will show you which process is loading which add-in (or which site in which browser tab).
I currently have 1 Tab open & 3 Extensions installed & have 5 chrome.exe processes running.
Your's does seem like an excessive amount but could be normal like has already been said, anyway have a look at this link - Multiple Chrome.exe Process running for a single tab opened. - Google Chrome Help
You aren't infected. Its perfectly normal behaviour. Its a feature of Chrome that they give a process for each tab and each extension. So if one tab or extension crashes, it doesn't bring down the whole browser and usually the crashed tab restarts itself.
I have 22 chrome processes but I have a number of extensions and Im not overly concerned with the large number. Although it would be nice to have an option to have just one process.
have a read of these links it will help you understand:)
