Adobe Flash Won't Recognize Any SWF Files

I'm running 64bit 7 and have installed the latest version of Adobe Flash for Firefox. I uninstalled the previous version before installing the newest version. However, whenever I try to start a SWF file, I get the error message "No application is associated with the specific file for this operation" so no files are recognized.
Can someone help me out with this?

Thanks much,
Barbara
