    IE8 Issue with Windows 7

So like everyone when I open IE8 in Windows seven, it goes to my homepage, however when I select a link in my favorites folder it opens a new tab to go to that link. When in that new tab and I select a favorite it does not open a new tab, but opens the link in the tab currently showing. If I click the button that opens a new tab at the homepage and then go to a link in my favorites, it again opens a new tab to do this leaving my homepage tab untouched. If I open a newtab to homepage and then navgate away from the homepage and then click on a link in my favorites it goes to that link in the current open tab. What I want to know is how to have favorites open n current tab all the time, like firefox does, without having to navigate away from the homepage manually first

cyrorm change your homepage to Google or yahoo
and try again , look round in the options for EI 8
make a new user account and try it again in there

Changing my homepage from bing to google did not change the way IE is working. Under a new user, the issue does not occur.

Noticed something just now, this issue does not occur if the link is to an external website, only to a website inside my domain.

My favorites always open in the current tab whether the favorite I'm going to is local or not. My tab settings options are: 1) When a new tab is opened...open the new tab page, 2)Open pop-ups in a new tab, 3)Links open new tab in current window.

When I use those settings, I get the sme results.

I had all my settngs mimic those of a friend, using same version of Windows, all updates applied, even exact same computer model and internal hardware, and his does not do this, but mine does.
