| Windows 7: WLM endless download loop |

WLM endless download loop When I enter WLM, it doesn't get out of downloading mail. When I try to exit the program, I see that it's rapidly downloading 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 messages (which I do not have on my email server). It appears to be stuck in this loop. I don't know what, if anything, I did to cause this.
I thought about repairing the installation, but there is no listing for WLM in Programs or under Windows Live Essentials.
Help, please. Thanks. | My System Specs |

Problem solved. It was an AVG issue. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio XPS 8100 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8 GHz Motherboard Dell 0T568R (CPU1) Memory 8.0 GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 664 MHz (9-9-9-24) Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTS 240 Sound Card M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 977 GB Western Digital WDC WD1001FAES-75W7A0 (SCSI) Antivirus MSE, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Browser Firefox Other Info Microsoft Security Essentials, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird. At the top of the P&F window is an "uninstall/change" button which opens a window in which you choose to uninstall or repair your complete installation of Windows Live Essentials. Even if you've only installed WLM there are several components that can be repaired, one of which is called "Mail". At the end of the repair process it gives you a list of all the Live Essentials programs you have installed that were repaired, one of which will simply be called "Mail".
If that doesn't work you can uninstall Windows Live Essentials which should make it dissappear from P&F entirely. Then go back to the original install file on your PC to choose which Live Essentials you want. Start with just the mail program until you're happy it's working. You can always go back to the file to download more of the Essentials. To find the install file just type wlsetup-web in the start/search box. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number OQO 2+ OS Windows 7 Enterprise Trial 32-bit SP1 CPU Intel Atom 1.86 GHz Motherboard OQO 2+ Memory 2 GB Graphics Card Intel GMA 500 Sound Card IDT Monitor(s) Displays LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 480 (portable) 1280 x 1024 (docked) Keyboard Slide out (portable) DiNovo Edge (docked) Mouse Eraser head (portable) Logitech Bluetooth (docked) PSU 9 Ah Battery (portable) or OQO Brick (docked) Case Shirt Pocket Sized Cooling Tiny Fan Hard Drives 64 GB SSD Internet Speed WWAN or 802.11G (portable) T1 (docked) Other Info DVD-RW OQO Docking Station |

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I realized that it took a double click on the Windows Live Essentials to bring up the uninstall or repair buttons. I did that, but as I said, it was an AVG problem, not a WLM issue. After I reinstalled AVG, WLM worked fine. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio XPS 8100 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8 GHz Motherboard Dell 0T568R (CPU1) Memory 8.0 GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 664 MHz (9-9-9-24) Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTS 240 Sound Card M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 977 GB Western Digital WDC WD1001FAES-75W7A0 (SCSI) Antivirus MSE, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Browser Firefox Other Info Microsoft Security Essentials, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird. Nope. I'm wondering if it's an AVG problem, not WLM. I might close AVG and try it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio XPS 8100 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8 GHz Motherboard Dell 0T568R (CPU1) Memory 8.0 GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 664 MHz (9-9-9-24) Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTS 240 Sound Card M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 977 GB Western Digital WDC WD1001FAES-75W7A0 (SCSI) Antivirus MSE, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Browser Firefox Other Info Microsoft Security Essentials, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird.
