Google launches Chrome 7 beta, dev channel update

Quote:
Google has pushed out the fist beta version of Chrome 7. The latest test build is essentially the same as Tuesday's developer-channel release, which doesn’t really bring much new to the table besides taking care of a few minor bugs and crashes. It does however include a new ‘about:labs’ feature for experimental options, paving the way for several improvements already available in the cutting-edge developer version which received an update to 7.0.536.2 just yesterday

This would probably be the first time I wish to update Chrome from a stable version to a beta without uninstalling the stable version first and loosing all my settings and extensions and stuff. Does the beta override the stable version?

You can always install Google Chrome's Canary build which is higher up on the build string then the Developers' build (which is higher then the Beta build) and can install along side of current versions of Chrome and NOT overwrite them.

Google Chrome - Get a fast new browser. For PC, Mac, and Linux

U should try the "Chrome Channel switcher". I ve used it to switch between the beta and Dev. I m sure I saw an option for stable too. Worth a try I guess

It would be good to preserve my bookmarks, theme and extensions when installing anything above the stable version, and not set that one up from scratch.

If you want to you can always install Chrome's Canary build and copy the folder called 'User Data' from C:\Users\Steven\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome to C:\Users\Steven\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome SxS.

Which essentially would copy all your personal data over to the new version while still having a stable version installed.

Does the beta override the stable version?[/QUOTE]

IF you DL'd the chrome channel changer Google Chrome Channel Changer - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com you can move between Stable, Beta & Dev releases @ anytime in any direction of progression. BTW-The link is to Cnet so your all good there.
Plus I would suggest trying out using your extensions in
"sandboxmode."" This option is found in wrench/options/under the hood/content settings/plug ins. It 's worth taking a look @.
If I helped feel free to rep me.
