Unable to insert Photos from Skydrive into Hotmail

Colour me thick, but I cannot find a way to insert a photo from my Skydrive into an email I am composing in Hotmail.

The only options in the Photo button in Hotmail are 'Create a new album', Web Images or clip art. Would it not be beyond the realm of possibility to link to my Skydrive so I can insert an image into my email?

I don't want to insert a link to an album on skydrive just insert a picture from it into an email, is that so hard?

Share your photos on Windows Live SkyDrive by simply sending an email message from Windows Live Hotmail. Your friends and family will be able to view slide shows of your photos and download them from SkyDrive without filling up their inboxes with large photo attachments.
Hotmail: Send photos with SkyDrive - Share Skydrive photos in Hotmail
The sentence with bold letters should be one of the reasons why skydrive exists.
    However, you can try this:

I didn't try it, but if I understand it correctly, you should be able to do what you are looking for.

Sorry GrimmJow but you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick. As I said I want to just get one or two photos off my Skydrive into an email in the Web Based Hotmail. I can insert photos from my computer into Hotmail, but if I am not at my computer that is not an option. The link you provided is the instructions for uploading from my pc into a folder on Skydrive. I want to insert one that's already there.

On the blog the line - "Photos will take you to your Sky Drive photo storage, a web image or clip art" is wrong as it only allows you to upload into a folder, web images or clip art.

All I want to do is be able to place a photo from Skydrive into an email. Why is there no option?

I haven't tried this program but according to the website the free version will let you "copy files and folders from Skydrive": Products | SDExplorer . I guess it remains to be seen if you can paste what has been copied.

Can't you just D/L the pics to your desktop and then attach them?

Somewhere I remember reading that an image must have a URL before it can be inserted into the body of an email. Otherwise it has to be an attachment. Or uploaded to an image hosting site and then linked to that site. My memory isn't what it used to be so things might have changed.

Unable to insert Photos from Skydrive into Hotmail

    tuckeratlarge,

I had the same problem as you - here is what I've done so far....

    1) While in your web mail, hover your mouse over "Windows Live" near the top left
    2) From the pop-down menu, select "SkyDrive"
    3) A new page appears - your SkyDrive page
    4) From "Options" pop-down, select "Email publishing"
    5) Put a check mark next to "Turn on emal publishing"
    6) Follow "Step1" and enter your email address
    7) Follow "Step2" and enter a secret word
    8) Click "Save"

Now when I went back to compose an email, I still had the same problem as you (while composing an email, I couldn't select Photos, and directly add a link to my web album)

    Here is my work-around
(this procedure assumes you've already created an album)
    1) Go to your "WindowsLive" home
    2) Select "Photos" / "Your Albums"
    3) Open the album you want to share
    4) Select "Share", then "Get a Link"
    5) On the new page, look at the "Note The people you share this item with will need permission to view it." )
    6) Highlight the link, then right click and "copy"
    7) Click on permission, which takes you to a new page
    8) Configure the "Who can access this" slider. In my case, my slider was on "Friends". I clicked on the # beside friends which opened a new windows which listed my friends....I verified that the people I wanted to send a link to my photo album were on my friends list
    9) Paste the link (from step 6) into any email
    10) I tested this by sending the link to my work email address

Link directly opens up a slide show on black background...of your album

    - I'm not sure if I had to turn on "email publishing" to successfully use my work-around?

    cheers
