sending and receiving email notice

Previous to the new "Windows Live Mail 2011" when I double-clicked the button to 'send and receive' all emails, a window came up showing the progress of mail being sent and being received. NOW, that does not appear so how can I tell if it has finished and also if any steps were not successful? That little window does not even show if I hold my cursor over the email icon in the taskbar.

Bottom right, shows sending and receiving.
At the top, I hit home, then the send and receive icon.

True, if you have it set to show the Status Bar, Rich. This is NOT an improvement, imho; this really sucks.

Thank YOU though.

TY for the rep.
Between us, I am not happy with WLM, either. I started with Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and now WLM 2011; everything is hard to find and operate.

Guess what............ if you click anywhere on the WLM window and then hover your cursor over the "Send/Receive" you'll note that the button has a top part and a bottom part. If you double-click the top part, then the old window showing send/receive progress etc DOES come up again.
