How to disable Skydrive and photo album in WLM 2011

Yes Skdrive Sucks. people cant get the photos. no way of making the attachment option as default.

This method of bypassing Skydrive works, it is the one I use all the time.

SkyDrive bypass for pictures in email
Go to picture source (My Pictures) select pictures (Ctrl-Click for multiples)
Click on email (on top of screen) select size (if other than full size desired)
Click attach, it should then open in Windows Live Email.
It will be in the Sky Drive format
Click on one of the pictures
Click the format button on top
Click the paperclip
That cuts out SkyDrive and makes the photos regular attachments.
Add email address, type message and send

but it requires you to log in. i don't want to log in! so i select a dummy .txt file with the .jpgs i select, send, that works fine, then delete it from the email b4 sending.

SkyDrive suddenly appeared on my machine! It's not visible anywhere ( in Programs,mail accounts,networks etc. , so how do I get access to it?

E-mailing pics using my cannon and nikon apps don't work right! I want to remove SkyDrive or at least remove this computer from SkyDirve... can't do that either!

I take it from this thread, it cannot be removed, so how do I find it so I can at least use it?

If it's not visible anywhere, why do you say it "appeared"?

When I send pics via e-mail the SkyDrive name appears on the page with the image. I cannot resize the pic, nor can the recipient.

In WLM (I think even the latest 2012 version, to which I have not yet updated) Skydrive is an optional way to send photos, called "Photo Email". If you use that feature the email program only sends a link to Skydrive which has a fairly high resolution version, viewable and downloadable to recipients of the email who have the link. If you prefer to have the photo "attached" do not use "Photo Email"; instead look for the "attach" or "insert" options.

How I solved the Skydrive Bypass and Resizing issue.

- open e-mail
- click on start
- click on pictures
- click on and open desired file group
- click on first photo to hilite it
- go to preview and click on arrow
- click on windows live photo gallery to open
- click on edit, organize and share
- click yes on popup box
- click on select all (or select pictures you want to send)
- click on photo emailer (top right side)
- click on send photos as attachments
- choose desired resizing option and click on attach
- a new send e-mail window will open with the photos inserted as attachments
- add recipients, subject, text and send.

I came looking for information on WLM/SkyDrive because this very day was my first experience of it.

One of the lucky ones, I inherited Win7 late in its techno and my literal life. I mourn the loss of XP and would make happy use of a lead pipe on those Sillycone Valley technocrats whose mission in life is to show how smart they are by making life increasingly difficult for the vast majority of users on the www who have to put up with increasingly difficult formats, and as others have said here; so that they have ever increasing control, slowly eliminating personal choice.
I do not want to be banned on a first post so the lead pipe will do, and any other sentiments are between me and the cat.
However, if technological systems were to be given an enema; the rubber tube would be inserted into Windows Live Mail.

I see it as worthwhile to post on this old thread, because it deals precisely with what most of you have known about for four? years.
As a Senior I've tackled most of the vagaries of Win7, but from the get go saw WLM as the spawn of Satan. Today I tried to send my first picture.....

You know the rest. I refused to join the SkyDrive skidmark; and naively thought I could just send. I sent a nicely framed 'X'.
Searching lead to this thread. Without the ingenuity of those who work on solutions, we would all be right Royally skewed.

I have used the 'attach file' method, but will explore the other options on offer. At my age I do not have the time to waste in deciphering this latest (for me) deceitful pile of hit (with a silent s).

I had to vent. This has delayed sending an important image by over two hours.
(Oh joy! I write but the cursor has just decided it will be invisible).

If it's still there, WLM 2009 is at www.oldapps.com I hope you can find it. You cannot install WLM2009 over WLM2012. Do a search on Google to find the answer on how to clean-up WLM 2012.

Good luck! I use WLM2009 and it works on W8.1 and W10. Though I like W7 best. I use just the email client and it works great.

Because Windows Explorer is forcing Photo mail in WLM 2011 you have to despite the program settings.

When selecting the images to send, include a non-image file. This could just be a dummy.txt file that should be in the same folder.

To create that non image file to the photo folder just Right click the window that has the photos and then New--> Text Document

Select your photos including the non-image file RIght click again pick Send to--> Mail recipient you'll still get the option to resize the images, but they'll end up attached rather than a photo mail. You can then Right click the dummy.txt file and REMOVE it from the message before sending.

Ok, I hate skydrive and wanted it the way it used to be before Microsoft fixed it. Not happening, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

If you right click on the photo/photos you want to send and click copy, you can then open and email and in the message body right click and hit paste. You can resize like always and you are done!

Right-clicking is an essential method to attach an image to a new email message. There is no better way or better workaround that is as practical as the sendto, mail, resize image. It's just as important as being able to copy and past files from one folder to another.

You will not be able to uninstall Windows Live 2012 then install Windows Live 2009. Unfortunately you'll have to do a clean install of Windows 7, 8, or 10. For me, it was worth it.

I embedded a direct link to the file at Oldapps. The file is 134MB and you should save it forever. It works great on XP, W7, W8, W8.1 and W10. You just have to use it in W7 compatibility mode on Windows 10. Just click "mail" and "silverlight" when you install it. The other crap (crap to me) isn't worth it.

I think Microsoft was out of it's mind removing the sendto, mail, resize. It was perfect in OE, Vista Mail and Live Mail 2009. I swear stupidity runs amok in the dev-shed.
