Download here: Firefox 4.0 beta 7

    Changelog:

    • Uses JägerMonkey, a new, faster JavaScript engine
    • WebGL is enabled by default on Windows and Mac OS X. WebGL support requires an OpenGL-capable graphics card. Support for other graphics cards on Windows (specifically Intel GPUs) and Linux will be coming in a future beta
    • Certain rendering operations are now hardware-accelerated using Direct3D 9 on Windows XP, Direct3D 10 on Windows Vista and 7, and OpenGL on Mac OS X
    • Improved web typography using OpenType with support for ligatures, kerning and font variants
    • HTML5 Forms API makes web based forms easier to implement and validate

Hi, I'm currently running FF4 beta 6 without any problems. Will downloading/installing FF4 beta 7 overwrite the earlier version or does it need to be uninstalled.
Will appreciate your advice - thanks.

Thanks. I am finding it much faster and more stable than b6 so far from the little I have tested.

It doesnt overwrite it. I had b6 and b7 on for a sec till I saw b7 was stable enough for me to dump b6 so I uninstalled that.

330 MB RAM is being used by this FF version although I only have two addons enabled, Adblock Plus and Foxmarks. Something is wrong with this version.

I will revert back to 3.6.12 for now.

It's a shame you have to disable Hardware Acceleration on it to get rid of the horrid blurry text in FF 4.

    Firefox 4 Beta 7

On Wednesday, Mozilla released Firefox 4 Beta 7, with significant JavaScript improvements, more support for accelerated graphics, and even 3D support.

Furthermore, Mozilla said, the plug-in API support is now considered stable so that developers can begin finalizing their plug-ins for the final version of Firefox 4, now due in 2011.

Firefox said the flagship addition to the new beta is probably the addition of the JägerMonkey JIT compiler, which can dramatically boost performance: by five times the beta 4's performance in the V8 Version 6 benchmark, and by three times beta 4 in both SunSpider and the Kraken benchmark.

You get used to it after a while... and from what I've read, it's a bug that has to do with Cleartype, or something like that. You might want to check me on that one.
