Favorites Bar in IE 8 - keeps reorganising the favourites

Is there any tick box or anything from preventing this from happening?

Welcome
I have my web favorites, set to sort to alphabetical name, (just right click and sort by name)
Then every new one will be last on the list you must go through the procedrue again

If you do not want alphabetical order then call favorites something like this
1 yahooo
3 a good site
2 seven forums

the order will be 1 2 3 after you sort by name.

Strange. I just move them to the arrangement I want and they stay there. "Sort by" applies to desktop icons and the headings of Windows Explorer windows but not the Favorites Bar in IE.

If you go to any of the favorites and right click, you will see sort by name. That is the only sort that I know in favorites. I have found that any new additions to favorites appears at the end of the list.
In IE8

Your right. I usually don't use the favorites list within the browser since I prefer to sort by date which can only be done in Windows Explorer using the date modified header. However you can sort by name within the Favorites Bar folder inside the normal Favorites list within in IE8. I just tried it and sure enough it screwed up my favorites bar...hope I can fix it so it doesn't continue to sort by name...yes you can by dragging the icons either in the bar or in the IE8 list.

Please someone tell me how to make the favorites list in IE8 go bact to sorting chronologically! IE8 decided on its own to start sorting by name, this does not work for me! Reason: I did not make up the names, but I know about when I saved them, and generally the same subject is grouped around a date. The names relate to NOTHING, and sorting by them just makes things unfindable! (Whoever had this stupid idea and decided to just IMPOSE it on everyone else is grandiose and nuts too. Not an insult, just a fact!)

When you right-click on the Favorites list "Sort by Name" is the only option. Personally I prefer to sort by date myself so I just create a shortcut for the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer for the desktop. Then just click on the desktop icon, it opens Favorites in Windows Explorer. Then click the date column to sort by date (assuming you are in details view and have added the date column). Of course, this method isn't completely foolproof since Windows has a way of resetting all the dates sometimes. Then you're back to sorting by name anyway but it was good while it lasted. (I long for the stability of Win 98!)

Of course, the primary way of finding stuff you know you have somewhere is to type a few key words in to the start/search box.

Favorites BAR

Everyone of you totally ignored the question. They asked about the useless Favorites BAR, not the Favorites list. Now, how about an answer?

When you click on the favorites link to open up your favorites menu, a "favorites bar" is listed. This "favorites bar" link is useless and I have repeatedly right clicked on it to delete it from the menu. However, it returns on its own every so often. There is also a link called "software...
