Cannot connect to incoming server
My wife's netbook is running Windows Live Mail, and connects to 3 different email accounts. Two are Comcast, the third is her company email server.
The email works fine for most of the locations that she visits. But at one office she visits occasionally, none of these incoming mail servers can be contacted, and she gets a message that says the POP3 server cannot be contacted.
I've encountered problems with the outgoing server when travelling, but never with the incoming. She is not in a position where should could ask an IT person at that location if there is some unusual setting on their network, and even if she could, she would most likely not understand the answer.
So I am trying to find out if anyone here has heard of any configuration changes that they might have done at that site, or any suggestions what to try on her netbook.

I assume she is visiting these offices with the same laptop so the only difference is the method of internet access provided by the office. The office router has a firewall which may be blocking outgoing requests to certain email ports that her account settings need to reach. The email provider for the accounts she want to reach can tell you what your pop3 settings must be and whether you have a choice of ports (e.g. level of security). If there are no choices other than what the router won't allow, she could use an alternate method of internet acces such as subscribing to a Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T wireless data service using an external modem that they can provide, or possibly add "tethering" service to her cell phone plan.
