I only use IE and am quite happy doing so, it does what I want without fuss or palaver so why bother cluttering the place up with others.

This is what makes it so nice, we can use what makes us happy and let others use what makes them happy.

This statement exemplifies the coolness of this site.

Internet Explorer 9 Beta out for grabs

Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 9 Beta of their ever-so-popular Internet Explorer browser. The beta has all the features that will be seen come release, but does not however have the updated version 9 UI. You can download the beta here. Version 9 has some important new things about it. For starters, there is support for HTML 5 and CSS 3, and a new JavaScript engine. IE9 also has an "Acid Test" feature that will let you test the compatibility and compliance of a website with IE9. Additionally, this new browser is programmed to use your GPU much better: IE9 uses your computer's GPU to enhance hardware scalable vector graphics (SVG), JavaScript performance, and HTML5 performance.
IE9 packs a lot of enhancements and features such as HTML5 support, hardware acceleration graphics rendering using Direct2D, hardware accelerated text rendering using DirectWrite, hardware accelerated video rendering using Media Foundation, new streamlined and simplified address and navigation bar, faster JavaScript, better CSS3 compliant support, SVG1.1 standards support, embedded ICC v2 or v4 color profiles support via Windows Color System, and more.

Not sure when the final version will be released, the beta is out now, I'd heard it could be early 2011.

    Thanx,

I'm using SSD's so I'm not interested in BETA testing with this machine. I will grab it tho, at actual release. I'm all for less junk in IE.

"Right On"! as the expression goes!

The main browser used here is IE to start with while I review others when having others installed. In fact the others presently were the better alternatives when recently having them all on at the same time finding very few as good for use as secondaries.

IE remains the default however! The IE 9 beta is not on the host drive however but on the second drive set up for comparisons with IE 8 and those others as well as the SP1 soon to see the public beta for that.

"Bring it on! MS Let's see IE 9's stuff!"!

The browser works super iv been using it since day one :) it has crashed like 6 times i belive on diffrent sites, but has never crashed so i had to restart it :) just the tab that crash, soon after it has crashed it restarts the tab, and its damn fast too, i can almost say its equal to googles chrome, so MS has really done a great job :)

tho i wonder and please tell me if someone knows, will there be any more updates for the browser in beta stage, and if so how to get the updates, will the browser update like firefox does?

just give you a notice and then lets you update it ?
or will there be no updates for the beta?

Updates would most likely be through Windows Update (although that's pure speculation by me).

Most likely you will see the usual method for seeing IE 9 updates and fixes as you would for anything else.

Here's something else many may not be aware of for the new version of IE. One of the new features is "tear off tabs" which may interest those who prefer tabbed browsing.

Tear-off tabs and Windows Aero Snap Tabs enable users to perform tasks that require more than a single Website or Web page. Users tear off tabs and snap them together by clicking on a tab and dragging it to the end of the PC screen. Instead, users can in effect tear off a tab by dragging it away from the browser and dropping it into Windows Aero Snap tables to display the sites or pages side by side. The feature, for example, would allow a technician to read the specifications of a new piece of industrial equipment in one tab while viewing a video tutorial on installation procedures in a second tab.
That was seen in the eweek article on the 16th titled Microsoft Touts HTML5 as Internet Explorer 9 Performance Booster

I left IE9b to see if it was causing some 'connect' problems ... I experienced no BSODS or anything else.. just a seriously long lag, especially with Youtube

I'll re-download it later and see if the "lag" still exists on my computer with IE9B or some other app I have installed.

Testing always is good. Don't give up 'til you find the problem
