Do you have a network and a router? If so, DNS could be improperly configured there, or on your machines.

If you open a Command Prompt, what does IPCONFIG/ALL show? Please post a screenie...

Darryl, I've never posted a screen shot in Windows 7 before. Could you give me some info. Also the DNS lookup errors have stopped at least for now. I wonder if it could be a Hughes net problem. Thanks, stream.

The DNS lookup errors have stopped so far. I assume you mean unplug the power cord on the modem and router to reset them. Is that correct?

Your attached picture misses the needed information. What we need to see is your NIC, listed as Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection. That will give us your DNS addresses.

You said the problem seems to have cleared up. If it recurs, try switching DNS servers to someone like Open DNS at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and see if that helps.

Since you were having DNS errors we were trying to determine what DNS server you were using. Since you didn't understand the question, you are probably using the server provided by your ISP, Hughes net. Since it's cleared up, Hughes must have fixed their problem.
