How do I enable calendar reminders in WLM? Thanks.

Open WLM and in the left-hand column open Calendar. Then, go to the upper-right hand corner and click on the Options link. Scroll down to the Calendar's setting options (see below) and follow the on-screen directions to set your reminder times.

By the way, there is an announcement that reminder alerts have been discontinued by Microsoft, so you might want to take a look at this link that is posted in the Reminders section: Change how you get reminders.

Thanks, but I have no options link in the upper right-hand corner of the calendar. Nor are there any calendar options in backstage > options. Thanks again.

I remember reading a while back that you have to Login to Windows Live Mail (in the cloud) with your Windows ID and it uses that mail service to send you a reminder.

Hi roncerr!

So what's with this--service discontinued?

Just as well, really. I don't like the idea of signing up for something and having my calendar information, and other private data, fed to me from "the cloud." Just my preference. Is there no other way to activate WLM 2011 calendar? Thanks.

Hotmail Calendar Alerts and reminders will continue to be managed by Windows Live Alerts for the time being.

My understanding is when you sign in with your Windows ID it copies you local calender to the Hotmail system and that is what sends the reminders. You have to sign in to keep the calenders in sync. I have not tried it but that is what I have read. The reminders on you calender will not work on just the local PC. Its got to go to the Cloud to use this feature. And I agree, it sucks.

There is one thing you can do. In WLM click on View And select Calender Pane and it will put a column on the right side and will show a list of your upcoming events. It looks like it is limited to the next five events.
