I also only use 5 gestures(first thing I do is delete the rest), so they are intuitive, no discipline necessary.

Flick up, brings me to the top of page, flick down, to the bottom. Flick left -back, Flick right - forward. Flick up-down reload, but while this one is programmed I usually forget so essentially, there is nothing to remember, just a flick in the direction I want to go.

These seem to be the most common activities and they are much faster with a simple flick than they are with keyboard or browser button press. Used for a bit they are addictive. I wouldn't use a browser that couldn't do this. Even Chrome gestures add on scrolls to the bottom slowly irritates me. Opera/Firefox, flick and you are there.

    Its working for me.
Thanks to all for this thread & the commands stated above in the Bold.
All I had to do was modify & restart Opera, and it was working!

I use the Left & right for back & forward as well, I wish I could unlearn those 2 as I think the right click left click & left click right click is a better way.

Mouse flip is the only way to go for back and forward.

After using for a bit, I am disappointed. Opera Gesture recognition is fairly weak.

I didn't notice at first as I was being slow and deliberate. But once I just started using them unconsciously as quick flicks as I do in Firefox, they are failing to register half the time. I have turned off the lame Gesture Aid GUI and changed the threshold to no avail. The system just doesn't register quick flicks very well at all.

Its working great for me, I did have lots of problems with the early 11 snapshots though.
Reading the Opera desktop blog there are a lot of people unhappy with the current mouse gestures.
I wonder if its anything to do with type of mouse (optical or laser or make).
I did read that someone at Opera promised the old gestures back in the next snapshot.
( my mouse is a laser & gestures are working with less than 1/4 inch of travel)
