iexplore processes not terminating

I recently reinstalled my Win7 ult x64 system for it's six monthly clean out.

Since doing this I've had problems with ie8 processes not terminating. I have to either end the process or reboot teh system Right now I have 3 iexplore.exe processes running, with only one tab open (there are usually only two).

Anyone had this happen? Know of a fix?

thanks

There is not a need to reinstall. Make a system image. Save it on a hard drive. When its time to reinstall (which really is unnecessary) use the image.

Try a System Restore to before the problem started or before you did the "clean up".
Just in case you need it. System Restore

If you ran a registry cleaner that may have deleted something it should not have.

Actually, I installed from scratch so I could build an image that had just the main applications I wanted to that I could take an system image to give myself a clean restore point. But I never got that far because of this problem.

I never did find the cause of IE8 hanging.

I reinstalled Windows 7 from scatch again, and the problem did no recur, so I installed all the main apps I wanted, tweaked the configuration and got it just right then made a system image.

Is everyone's task manager showing it like this? Why 2 processes? 1 just to have it open and another for each webpage being displayed? Is this faster/better or something? Anyone know of a reason behind this?
