Fonts text display in IE and Firefox wrong

    Hi,
New here so I hope I'm the correct forum! I use IE and Firefox for browsers. They are both exhibiting the same problems:

The text display and fonts are uneven in all webpages. For instance, in yahoo mail some of the text in the control buttons has a 'strikeout' through it; the checkboxes are not visible to select an email.

When I open Facebook and type text the font is corrupted and illegible, looking like one font is being placed on top of another unevenly.

However, when I type in a search in the Firefox search bar or type in a url there is no problem.

I have changed the font size/zoom properties but the text is still inconsistent and the pages are still displayed incorrectly.

I have tried rebuilding the IronCache file. I have uninstalled all programs that were installed immediately before this problem started (mainly Adobe CS5).

Obviously I can't find the solution. I can have the OS reinstalled but it will cost $100 and I'd rather not pay that at this point :)

Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated. I have never seen this particular problem before and I've been a programmer for 17 years.

    Thanks!

Have a look here and see if it applies: What's wrong with my fonts?

    Font problems

Yes, I downloaded the fonts in the zip file recommended. It seems to have fixed some of the problems but the HTML still seems to be formatted incorrectly in some cases. I'm having issues with Firefox displaying correctly. Perhaps I should reinstall it?

Yes, you can see if re-installling fixes it

IE/internet options/accessibility/formatting/font sizes and styles. If those boxes are checked it will cause some visual anomalies.....At least it does in my IE8.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi,
I downloaded the fonts and copied them into the directory suggested. Do I have to INSTALL them somehow? If so, how do I do it?

    Thanks,
    Danny

When copying to the Fonts folder you should have seen a window saying something like "installing selected fonts"
