Send Page by Link/Mail Grayed Out in IE8

I just completed a Clean/Install of Win7 Pro along with SP1 & all seems to be back working fine except one minor issue. When I click on “SEND” on IE8 menu, the Send Page by Link/Mail are grayed out.

The “Send To” function works fine when I right click on a document (my Windows Mail Opens Fine). Also, the Mail Icon on IE8 works fine when I click it.

I’m using Windows Mail using the enabling instructions provided in Papa Bears post here which I used successfully prior to my recent clean/install. Windows Mail works just fine in all respects except for the noted issue with IE8.

I’ve tried the solution for this issue provided in an earlier post by going to default program in control panel. “
[Choose "set program access and computer defaults". Choose custom. Next unselect "use current web browser" and select ie8. Do same for email. Click “OK”].

However, this is not working for me because after making these changes, they default back to previous setting (Use Current Web Browser/Email App). IE8 & Windows Mail are no longer selected when I reenter Default Programs.

    Something simple I’m missing?
    Thanks for any suggestions.:)

That is normal behavior. Still, after specifically selecting your default programs (with IE8 closed) and closing the default programs window, the "greyed out" problem should be fixed. If it's not you could try an IE8 reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

roncerr… thanks for the response & comments.
I did as you suggested but the “Send Page/Link by E-Mail” still remain grayed out even after resetting IE8.

FWIW, I noticed that when I set Windows Mail & IE as default under “Set Program Access & Computer Defaults” – in the “Custom” choice, my Windows Mail Icon (shortcut) pinned to the Taskbar disappears & I have to reinstate it from the Windows Mail Program folder. Also, Windows Mail no longer appears under the “Set Your Default Prgrams”

It was working fine prior to the Clean/Install so I must have missed a step in the initial reinstatement process. Perhaps I should just repeat the whole process to see if the IE8 issues clear.

Any further comments/suggestions are surely welcome.
Thanks for your time & help :)

just for future reference... I repeated Papa Bear's instructions & then reset Windows Mail as default in “Set Program Access & Computer Defaults” – in the “Custom” choice as instructed by roncerr & the Send Page by Link/Mail enabled just peachy ducky as before. I just missed a step initially.

Thanks again for the help :)
