IE 8 and W7 issue - cant play some vids; others wont stop from loading

Hi :)

Issue 1: Some websites will not play video off of the website with IE8 in W7, even tho I have the latest Java/Shockwave/Adobe etc. updates. What is wierd is that these vids play in IE7/XP

Issue 2: Some websites have video advertisements that pop up as the page begins to load. In IE7/XP, hitting <esc> or the stop button actually stops these vid ads from loading and playing, assuming I time it right. But I cant stop these from loading and playing in IE8/W7, regardless of how soon I hit <esc> or the stop button.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Even though your system is 64-bit, Flash uses 32-bit, so you should be using the 32-bit browser which is also on your system. (There may be a 64-bit Flash available by now but I'm not sure.) Otherwise your security settings may be set too high; you can restore them to default with a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset. You will have to reinstall your add-ons. Also when updating Flash I routinely first download and run Adobe's Flash uninstaller and then after reboot, install the new version:
Uninstall Flash Player | Windows (uninstall)
Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player (install).

I am def. using the 32-bit browser; the shortcut points to "C:\Program Files (x86)..."

If I try the 64-bit browser, I get a message asking me if I want to install Adobe Flash. I click install, and nothing happens.

How do I see if the version of Adobe I have installed that I am using with IE8 32-bit is in fact 32-bit?

You can go to the control panel,uninstall a program,
then click on Adobe Flash Player 10,look at the buttom and you'll see the build number.

If you want to try using Internet Explorer 64-bit with Flash,
you can install "Adobe Flash Player Square Preview"
Adobe Labs - Downloads: Adobe Flash Player "Square" Preview Release

Or you can just click the following:
Download active-x for 64-bit Windows — for Internet Explorer only
Download plug-in for 64-bit Windows — for all other browsers

Notice that both of them work,but if you're using IE,
I recommend you install the first one,
they will not have any conflict with the 32-bit Flash Player

There is no build # - only a version # which is 10.1.85.3 which doesn't specify 32 or 64.

So, i guess I am getting a little confused here. I want to use the 32-bit vers of Adobe, right? If I am using IE 32-bit, Adobe should be 32, right? I ask, b/c the vids that dont play in the 32-bit vers of IE, dont play in the 64-bit vers of IE either. So, I am not sure which vers of Adobe I have, but neither 32 nor 64 IE8 loads these vids.

And how do I stop these vid ads from loading as I alluded to in my initial post?

According your observation,then you should install 32-bit Flash Player,
and mine is 10.2.152.14,you can download it here(for 32-bit)

For video ads part,do you mention the one like,you watch a video from youtube,
and there is ads before the video?
