    Java

I am running 7 Pro 64Bit & don't have Java installed. I went to Java.com but my Q is, which of these 2 do I get?

    Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Offline (32-bit)
    Windows 7/XP/Vista/2003/2008 (64-bit)

Only reason I'm asking is b/c my OS is 64Bit but IE8 is always running at 32Bit. Should I get Java to match the OS/IE?

    So I should DL both 32 & 64Bit b/c I have both 32 & 64Bit IE8 & the OS being 64Bit isn't a factor.

On my keyboard I have a dedicated Web button which opens IE in its 32Bit flavor. I read somewhere that I can make the 64Bit flavor the default by using the instruction below:

"Aside from the fact that Flash may not work for the 64Bit version, there's no reason NOT to use IE8 64Bit as the default browser.
So here's how, straight from MS. Make the following changes to the registry:
    •HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\IEXPLORE.EXE
    Change the value to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
    •HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command
    Change the value - "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome
    •HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https\shell\open\command
    Change the value - "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome"

    Is this correct?

I would avoid using registry edits as much as possible, especially when they aren't so important. Can you not make IEx64 bit the default?

But you are right, go into each browser and download its flash seperately. 64x with 64x and 32 bit with 32 bit (ie. don't download 32 bit in the 64bit browser).

The last time I checked it wasn't possible.

DLing later 2night, thanks for the help.

I recieved some other info that let me know the Registry tweaks are correct. May try it next week as I'll be in the hospital for a week/less. I'll update this when I find out if the tweak works.
