Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Release Candidate (RC) on February 10, 2011
-
Which BETA version was you running the 2nd(updated) version was actually labelled as RC in installed updates
Version 9.0.7930.16406
Try a System Restore?
3-4 days ago. Maybe before this past Tuesdays updates?
Then see if any Beta or RC shows and delete it or at least try reinstall new RC.
If restore works I would delete any IE 9 that shows in update list and then install new RC.
Just a thought.

Re-installed ie9 twice today, also reset the internet explorer settings, problems at the moment are:
a) Will not work in google maps street view (keeps shutting down).
b)The writing on the AOL UK web site is all jumbled.
c)Will not let me access my AOL mail site (keeps shutting down).
All the above work fine on chrome and ie8.
Newbie to the site and apologise if this is the wrong area to ask for help.

Open IE Click on Tools go down list to "Compatability View settings" and click. Not Compatability View.
Then check mark all three boxes at the bottom as in picture below. Click close.
Now it will view all pages automatically in Comp. view.
You do realize that some sites like Gmail don't like the compatibility view right?

Have a screen shot of that????
I had 3 instances of IE open and it's less than 160MB (working set), less than 65MB (private set). Also you must really have a small amount of RAM installed to worry about 200MB's

it also depends on what you've got loaded in the tabs at the time...

No problems for me. I downloaded the installers and then installed the appropriate version after closing all open programs. I didn't need to uninstall the Beta version, I just needed to restart when prompted to complete the installation.

You're amongs the minority that gets away with it. It is ill advised to install over a beta.

Posted for Northerner and those it may help.
Never used Gmail so I don't have any suggestions.
Sorry.
