    Firefox 3.6.13 - Can't upload to website

    Hi Folks:

I've just installed Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit) - clean install from Windows XP Media Centre 2005 (SP3).

Ran into a few problems but were fixed by a repair of Windows 7.

I have two browsers: IE8 and Firefox 3.6.13. I can upload to my website at Ning.com in IE8 but not at all with Firefox 3.6.13.

I have tried everything: flash, java, clearing the cache, portable apps version of Firefox, safe mode, new profile, checked Windows Firewall, Trend Titanium, etc.

Finally removed Firefox and tried using the "portable apps" again and still cannot upload to my website at Ning.

I contacted Ning Technical Support but they say it is my computer.

This falls under a number of categories: Windows General, Browsers and Security software.

Any ideas what would prevent me from uploading to my website? Is it the Windows Firewall?

    Thanks, MS

I would say try a third browser... possibly chrome and see if it works. It's very possible they just don't have proper support for any ftp outside of the native I.E. one.

    Firefox 3.6.13

    Hi Maguscreed:

I was going to try Opera next.

It's not FTP at Ning.com. They have a built-in uploader for websites in order to add photos, videos and mp3s.

It worked prior to my installing Windows 7. I just noticed the issue this past week since it's only been about two weeks for the new installation.

    Thanks, MS

It could also be that you have a newer version of firefox now. This is either on firefox, or a support problem in their scripting. I don't really think win 7 is to blame here.

It would probably be worth searching or maybe contacting Firefox Support: Firefox Support Home Page | Firefox Help

    Good Morning Maguscreed and Irene:

Windows 7 is the only thing that is new to my system! I've been working with Firefox Forum and we've thrown everything at it and still not working!

I've checked with others and they can use Firefox at the website. Therefore, I'm looking at Windows Firewall or something else that might be blocking or interfering with my uploading.

I have no problems at all with IE8.

    Any suggestions, ms

That's just the thing though. Windows 7 or windows xp. The browser behavior is the same. The only way it could be at all on windows 7 is if the firewall is somehow blocking this transfer.

That would be an easy fix though, it would only require you to open the windows firewall and give firefox full rights.

Or add firefox to the firewall exception list if it's not already there.

    Firefox 3.6.13

    Hi Maguscreed and youanvista:

Mozilla Firefox is under the allowed programmes. What other areas can I change to allow Firefox under the Windows Firewall?

In the past, my Trend Micro was for both firewall and anti-virus. With the new Titanium programme, it only covers anti-virus.

I'd like to make some changes to the firewall before trying another version of Firefox.

    Thanks, MS

The problem might be with your anti-virus. I use Avira and had to set it to allow some of my programs and sites.
