firefox and custom windows text size

i'm not sure if this should be in the 'browsers' or 'customisation' part of forums, but anyway...

i have a hi-res monitor but poor eyes, so i've set a custom windows text-size of 125% to help me read on-screen text easier. so things like the start-menu text and icons get bigger etc.

however, it also seems to affect firefox's webpage rendering. other browsers (ie8 and chrome) respect the 125% for UI menus and whatnot, but don't affect the text within a webpage, this gets rendered according to the css. however, firefox seems to read the css fontsize, then adds a bit to it, not always 25%.

i'm designing a website, and it's annoying that all the text looks bigger in firefox.

how do i make firefox obey the css and ignore windows custom dpi settings for webpage content? i'm using 3.6.13 if it makes any difference.

i know i could just revert to normal 100% dpi, but i like the big UI text - i find it much easier to read, with less strain on the eyes after a long day's computing. i just want all my browsers to display the page text according to the css.

    Hello there, Mickey!

How about you just zoom in the text in Firefox with "CTRL +" that way you could only look the fonts to look bigger

Or you could try this in the attachment!

It's for Firefox to bypass the website fonts and stuff and to show them in the font you like, the size you like :)

Try that and report back, please :)

    i don't think i've explained my problem well, it's a bit confusing.

in windows control panel, i have set my text size to 125%.

firefox and custom windows text size-display.png

this makes all the UI text 25% bigger, and is easier to read.

however, this setting should only affect UI elements and not webpage fontsize shown in a browser.

the browser should display webpage text at the fontsize specified in the css.

ie8 and chrome display text correctly, firefox makes it bigger!

    chrome and ie8 show:
firefox and custom windows text size-txt_chr.png

    but firefox:
firefox and custom windows text size-txt_ff.png

you can see here that the fontsize for 'firefox and custom...' and 'mindblowingly fine' are the same in both browsers, but firefox makes the 'mickey megabyte' and the post text bigger.

why? is this a firefox css bug? has anybody else noticed it and knows how to fix it?

    Hi, Mickey! :)

Have you given the add-on No Squint a whirl?

    thanks for suggestion mike,

nobody seems to understand my problem

i just want firefox to display web text according to the css rules! so if the css says 'fontsize:10px', i want firefox to display the font at size 10, not 11, 12 or 13.

it's not a big problem, and i can live with it - i'm not a regular firefox user and wondered if anybody else had this issue.
