Windows 7: Problems importing mail

Hi, I just set up a new windows 7 Pro 32bit machine. I need to import oe mail setting from an XP machine. I copied the entire Outlook Express folder containing all the .dbx files to a folder on the Windows 7 machine. I have been unsuccessful importing the files in both Windows live Mail and Outlook 2003.

In WLM the import process seems to work but the Import folders are empty

In Outlook 2003 when I import - mail and addresses - oe 6.x - allow duplicates - choose the folder - I get the following error: "The mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using this file, please close it and try again"

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It sounds like you had OE open when you copied the file. Close it and then try it again.

OK, it looks like that was the problem! Also, can I move the folders from the Imported Folders to the default account folder? I tried dragging and dropping but no luck

I'm not sure about the folders themselves but you can definitely move the emails in the folders.

Yes, I found that out. So I manually created each folder and moved the messages into each. What a pain. So far "7" has not made my life any easier.
