Got AVG 2011 Free Edition. Firewall has nothing to do with this.

That's the generic error message IE displays, what error you get in firefox? Have you tried clicking 'Diagnose connection problems' or similar in IE error message? What does it come up with?
Also, make sure there's no entry for facebook and majorgeeks in hosts file like 127.0.0.1 facebook.com .
Have you tried resetting TCP/IP?

Have you tried the TCP/IP reset option?

I've tried this Mozilla thingy before I went here. So I'm pretty sure it's not Mozilla's Fault. Somebody gave me the idea that it might be a security problem.
