Don't worry Orbital, I'm starting a foundation today aimed at putting a copy of firefox in every European's hands by the end of September!

Thanks but i've only ever used IE and have no issue with it. Why Microsoft should cave in & ship a Microsoft OS minus Microsoft software

Now, there seems to be some 'supprise' at Europe not paying extra for Windows 7 E!

Europe won't pay more for Windows 7. Really!

I'm moving out of the EU, no lie this is people in the EU now being singled out. Others may now start to think "What's so special about them?" or "Poor sad lot, can't even get an internet browser" then laughing at us

Fine fine, I'll put a copy of IE on the CD too :P ... It'll delay the release by a week or so but I'll make sure you're taken care of!

It's not a question of 'I need someone to get IE for me' it's the fact that MS have caved in to EU demands. Anyone can get hold of a browser I just see no need to have to do the following...

    1, Download IE8
    2, Save to external HD
    3, Install Windows 7 RTM
4, Run IE8 Install from external HD

Logic dictates that the easiest route is to only have to do step 3, sodding EU!! LOL

Oh I know! I was just making a joke on the ""Poor sad lot, can't even get an internet browser" then laughing at us" comment :)

I agree with you completely Orbital, it's a gigantic pain in the @#$% to have to jump through the hoops you're going to end up having to. Fortunately this is going to affect a small minority of customers in the EU from what I can figure. Most OEM boxes are going to come with IE installed as part of the set up process and most people that upgrade will already have IE on the box (I'd be surprised if Win7 upgrades removed existing IE installs). Small computer shops that custom build boxes will likely do a Windows Update on the box before hand and install IE8 as part of the process. This really only affects people like us who (re)build our machines from vanilla OS media.

If they're going to go this route though I think they need to require all installs of opera and firefox to include links to the installs of their competitors during the install process. Sound silly? Yeah I thought so :P
