IE9 RC Crashing - some compatability issues

Hello - i recently downloaded Internet Explorer 9 RC x64 on my system but having some issues.

Using ebay as an example, it seems it wont run on IE9 as everytime i go to the page, i get an error and then it relaods. The same error occurs again (almost instantly) and then it goes to the blank "There was an error" page

The only way i can view ebay is via compatability settings - but i would like to know if anyone knows the cause and how it could be solved

    Thx

    Hi meddylad,

This is the whole purpose of the compatibility mode. It exists to enable websites that wouldn't otherwise work correctly with IE9 (or fail to work at all) to be accessible by IE9 running an emulated version of an older browser. The type of error will depend, to some extent, on the nature of the incompatibility. In other words, although you are using IE9, that particular tab acts as though you are running IE8 (until you close the browser/tab). There is nothing wrong with IE9's behaviour here, rather it is the individual websites that aren't IE9 compliant.

    Thanks for your reply.

I am quite shocked that a big site like eBay hasnt updated its website to work with IE9, considering it has been a long time coming

If i run websites in compatability mode, will it affect the new features of IE9 (such as GPU Rendering)

    Regards

I have the IE9 RC, 64 bit version, as I have Win 7 64 bit. I just accessed e-bay and it came up in native mode, not compatibility and I was able to access a couple of listings in e-bay without a problem.

My post above is just a generic reason why certain sites require compatibility mode. I was unable to try Ebay because I was at work. Besides, we're still on XP at work, and that is not compatible with IE9 (only works with upto IE8).

Now that I'm back home, I've just tried both Ebay.com and Ebay.co.uk with IE9RC 64-bit, and both sites opened without problems. What other sites are you having issues with?

    This may help.

Open IE click tools. Go down list to Compatability View settings and click.

New window as below check all three boxes at bottom. Click Close.
This will give you comp view on all pages automatically.
