IE9 Java Problem?

When I visit Java's web site to "verify that I have the correct version of Java installed" Verify Java Version IE9 crashes?? I press the verify button, and boom.

I have Java 6.23 installed on my machine, and Chrome and FF work perfect after hitting the verify button, as did IE8, but IE9 no.

Can anybody verify that your IE9 works after hitting the verify button??

Thanks in advance.

You apparently do have the most recent version. I had no trouble with the verification tool though.

Try running their website in compatibility mode. There have been quite a few sites that crash with IE9 in normal mode.

Also need to not be "In Private"

I also had this problem and found that not only did I need to use compatability view but also need to run IE with "In-Private" turned off.

Same seems to be true for running the update.

I am operating Windows 7 64-bit, and with either IE 8 or 9, wasn't able to get Java to run. I didn't have any luck with Firefox. I finally downloaded Google Chrome, and went to a site that absolutely needed Java, the uspto.gov site for registered users. When I clicked on the link to register and upload my secure ID info, Chrome provided a link for the appropriate Java download, and it actually installed properly and worked with Chrome. It also spilled over into IE, which then worked as well. Finally, after hours and hours of screwing around.
