Migration to Windows Mail - lost First and Last names on most contact

This is an odd one. I migrated from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, using Windows Easy Transfer.

It transferred most things OK (aside from another problem - Live Mail imports only partially from OE .dbx file), however one thing that's wrong now is that most (though not all) of the First Name and Last Name fields in Windows Live Mail did not get migrated! The contact itself did in all cases; it's there with the email address, but now the First Name and Last Name are blank.

Can anyone help with this? Is there any way to recover them?

    Thanks.

Edit: I found how to edit existing contacts. Any help in how I can fix this problem, without having to manually edit all the contact, will be most appreciated.

I did find out where the old outlook express contacts are stored:

    C:\Users\<user>\Contacts

in a bunch of .contact files. These files do contain the name, in the <c:FormattedName>John Doe</c:FormattedName> field, but apparently this was not imported into Live Mail properly.
