Does IE9 affect Windows Mail?

I have the same problem. No more paperclip attachment on the middle viewing bar. I have just uninstalled IE9 RC and am waiting to reboot to see if this works. There may be a need to reinstall the Vista msoe.dll file again. Hope to let you know soon. [See below]

As for Microsoft testing the release... what did you expect? If they did it would not be on Win7 with Vista WinMail installed! Especially as they left out all mail programs.

I am now pleased to advise that after uninstalling IE9 RC, and a restart, the attachment link in Windows Mail has returned.

Microsoft doesn't support Vista's Windows Mail on Windows 7. (They assume you will be using Windows Live Mail or Outlook.) So any update has the potential to break Windows Mail on 7 and all you can do is hope a new msoe.dll will be posted in the tutorial to deal with it.

There has to be something in the registry that controls the "view message" area of Windows Mail.

If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe it uses IE as the engine for the message viewer, and that's why the .dll's and registry settings for Windows Mail do not affect that view pane. In the IE9 registry settings, there are probably keys that do not exist anymore that feed this window.

Does that make sense?

Anyone found a way ? The problem still persists with IE9 final with W7 and even with Vista

I don't think MS will care, as they don't support WinMail anymore, and they want you to change to Live Mail

Sucks though, because I have WinMail setup just the way I want, and you cannot setup Live Mail the same way.
I may end up having to give Thunderbird a shot.

same problems here ...
the font problem and the attachment problem
can't save/view any attachments anymore after installing IE9 today -_-
darn ...
and I thought the only annoying thing is that the favorites are now on the right side of the browser -_-

Does someone fix this? I noticed that Vista have a same problem. If you install IE9 on Vista, same problems shows (cannot open Attachment from read panel, and fonts are bigger and bold).

Maybe someone had a solution?

hmm, if Vista has the same problems then I think there's some hope

since winmail is part of vista ...
but then I don't understand why MS didn't notice during their long beta tests ....

I can also confirm this same problem between Windows Mail and IE9 on a Vista Ultimate laptop. Installed IE9 last night and since then WinMail has been messed up. If I open up the email I can see the header fine and file attachments, just not from the reading preview pane. Thanks MS!
