I know that MS don't want to support Windows Mail for Win7, BUT Windows Mail IS STILL a mail program integrated in Vista, so I hope so that MS will fix this problem for Vista...

IE9 messed up WinMail in my Vista Home Premium SP2 setup. My solution: uninstall IE9. Under IE8 WinMail works just fine and it browses OK as well, but give Firefox a try. It's SAFER!

Yeah, I know that IE9 messed up Windows Mail, but I hope so that MS will fix this problem.... Did he knows about this? Does MS want to fix this? I hope so that MS must fix this, because Windows Mail is regular mail software "inside" Windows Vista!

I also found the same thing - installed IE9 on a Vista machine only to find Windows Mail 6 is deformed. I don't use IE as my browser anyway so I'm annoyed with myself that I updated it.

Just in case you weren't aware -
To access attachments and images, you now have to double click on the email message header to open it in a separate window. It's a pain but at least its not a complete loss and I can't believe MS have been so thoughtless

If finds a fix posted I'd appreciate it

Whilst the fact that IE9 and Winmail are not compatible is undoubtedly true, it is still not an acceptable excuse for this problem. Indeed IE9 updates should not even be altering Winmail.

This is a higher order quality issue more serious than a single bug.

And I may be old-skool and idealistic to think that if software is working and not broken then why is it being fixed? Conversely if software is being updated then it is broken.

The decision to stop maintaining s/w should not be taken by MS or be a fixed date, but when the quality is a legal acceptable level to the users.

BTW The friend that I have just helped with this problem never uses IE but Firefox.

IE9 updates should not even be altering Winmail behaviour.

Do M$ not have any Systems Engineers or Systems Architects.
How do I know that something else isn't broken?

GREAT NEWS! Removing IE9, downloading Firefox, blocking automatic updates and refusing any IE9 updates has not only fixed the problem permanently but I wish I had done that before. That would have prevented the problem in the first place.
