Does IE9 affect Windows Mail?

I am running Windows Mail (from Vista) with W7 x64 and it's been running fine. I am not sure if it's related or not, but I installed the IE9 RC on my laptop a few days ago, and I now notice that the message area info bar with the TO, FROM, Attachment Paperclip, and 'Click here to see images" is now messed up. Instead of the proper fonts, the area now used the vgasys.fon, and the paperclip does not show if an email has an attachment, and the bar that allows you to click if you want to see the images in an email does not show up.

OK. I know, I should be using W Live Mail, but I like the way Windows Mail works as it does not serparate all of the mail from each email address I have, and what the heck, I'm used to it.

So, if anyone knows I'd appreciate it if you could tell me if this can be remedied. I already tried dragging the Windows Mail folder from a Vista PC back to the box and it makes no difference. I figure it's something in the registry.

Same problem here after installing IE9 RC on my computer my Windows Mail looks different.
I lost the paper clip, it changed fonts and the security msg is gone.
I tried to reinstall Windows Mail but it didint fix the problem.
Messed up my calculator gadget too.
Countless reboots didnt fix the problems

Hmmm...strange...I have WLM 2011 and IE9 RC on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit machine and WLM seems to work fine. I specifically checked on the "paper clip", and security message. No problem. About the fonts, I am not very sure - though I don't see anything different. Of course, there is a font problem (on my machine) with how Gmail is rendered, but that's another issue.

Glad to see someone else has verified the problem. There must be something that can be reset in the registry that will fix this. Any experts out there know where the Windows Mail get's its settings from? (Oh, for the old days of the .ini file! )

The Windows Mail Tutorial (Windows Mail) includes msoe.dll files taken from the Vista version of Windows Mail. At least once so far, a Windows Update made the dll on Windows 7 different from what it now is for users of Vista. They updated the tutorial's file after that happened. So if Windows Mail stops working after an Update you might check the tutorial fourm (now close to 100 posts) to see or ask if the tutorial version of msoe.dll has been recently updated. If so, the newest version should make Windows Mail work again with all the latest Windows Updates.

O.K so how do I fix Windows Mail in Vista 64bit to its original look and feel.
In my personal opinion this should be fixed by Microsoft.

same problem with me. I run on a win7 homepremium 64b platform and win mail is all messed up after installing ie9.

did some one find a way out of it?

I tried replacing the msoe.dll with the one from my Vista 64 laptop, and nothing changed. It's still messed up in the message area.

Yes sir i followed some general advice how to back up msgs and contact book and reinstall Windows Mail posted on one of blogs and that didn't help with the problem. I think the problem is sitting deep in registry.
I am surprised that Microsoft didn't test their release of IE9 RC before making it available for everybody.
The changes it made in my Windows Mail started me looking at other mail programs. This is for the second time in 2 years that Microsoft disappoints me. First with problems in my Outlook 2002 and Vista and now with making my Windows Mail not working properly.
