favorites creates duplicate dead link

can anyone please tell me how to stop this?
when I save a favorite, a couple minutes later, another link has been created.... a duplicate dead link.
also, can anyone please tell me why when I click on a favorite sometimes, more than one favorite opens (in a new window)??? is this a virus??

If you are using IE8, try a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.
