IE9 RC x64 Working Only in Safe Mode Any Ideas?

    OS: W7 HP SP1 x64.

IE9 RC x64 does not load in normal mode but loads and accesses the Internet in Safe Mode.

IE9 RC x32 loads and accesses the Internet in both modes.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Manage add ons - disable/re enable one at a time to see if 64 bit IE 9 loads and you can also try changing your home page to see if somehow that may also be the cause. Also Compatibility view has an effect on certain websites as they are not compatible with IE 9 RC yet and has to be turned off.

I decide to check my Avast Internet Suite settings first.

What you read below I just posted on the Avast forum

I took some time this morning to track down the problem of why IE9 RC x64 is not loading.

    In IE9 RC x64

I disabled all the add-ons including Avast WebRep and set the home page to blank.

IE9 RC x64 would still not load.

So I then checked the AIS Real Time Shields

I went through all the Real Time Shields turning them off one by one. I tried starting IE9 RC x64 with each Shield turned off.
IE9 RC1 x64 would not load until I unchecked "Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications" in the Behavior Shield

I verified my findings on a second W7 SPI x64 computer.

    Behavior Shield On
    Behavior Shield Settings

    Main Settings

When "Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications" is checked IE9 RC x64 does not load.

It appears not to matter if I add c:\Program Files\Windows\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe to my Trusted Applications or not.

It also appears not to matter on how I set "Action to Take". I tried all settings on this with "Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications" checked and IE9 RC x64 would not load.

So at this point it appears that IE9 RC x64 is trying to do perform an "unauthorized modification" that the Behavior Shield Settings does not like or their is just a conflict between AIS 6.0.992 and IE9 RC x64.

    ======================
I disabled all the add-ons and set the home page to blank.

IE9 RC x64 would still not load.

At this point the Avast people are aware of the problem. However they are not yet taking responsibility for it.
